environmentally friendly

To reduce the packaging waste burden, fresh flower arrangements
are created in containers which are biodegradable and can be
safely composted.

For wrapping and protecting beautiful bouquets, natural materials
are used such as hessian, paper, cornstarch film, cotton, jute, raffia.
All giving a premium quality finishing touch to the overall design.

When decorative finishes are used in the designs, every effort is made to ensure that they do not add to environmental problems.

On the rare occasion that this is not possible, I will always replenish what has been borrowed from the environment, for example by planting a native tree or shrub.

I believe in offering choice to the customer. In addition to 'traditional' blooms and foliage, the following are also available:

Fair Trade

Fair Trade flowers are available. Working on the same principles as
the more familiar Fair Trade coffee and tea, these flowers are superb quality and give much needed financial and ethical support to producers in developing countries.

UK Produced

UK produced flowers, foliage and plants make perfect environmental sense--they don't spend days travelling so they're fresher, they don't incur air miles and they support the local economy.

I will always use local suppliers where I have the option.

Organic

Organically grown flowers and plants do not harbour hazardous fertilizers and pesticides. They can be safely composted with no
fear of putting those nasty chemicals back into the soil.

Organically grown flowers are a rarity in the UK, most are available
from Dutch growers and air miles are not incurred through the use
of road freight.

To coin a phrase:
"Beautiful Flowers Don't Have to Cost the Earth"!

The floristry & horticultural industries need to use water to keep plants alive and healthy, and they need to use packaging to get the plants to customers in a premium condition. Both water and packaging are a draw on the planet's resources.

To help conserve resources I use captured rain water which is filtered to ensure it is free from elements which may harm plants and flowers.

The packaging that I use is either recycled material, recyclable, biodegradable or reusable. I'm even working with other industries to
try and encourage the production of plastic floristry pots made from recycled materials.

Ultimately my delivery vehicles will run on LPG or bio diesel.
I'm hoping to make this conversion by the end of the year.

I keep chemical use to a minimum, experimenting with natural alternatives to things like leaf shine.

I prefer to work with local suppliers wherever possible and research whether they trade ethically in terms of fair trade, workers rights,
and environmental issues.
